Founded in 1922, Mario Industries is one of the oldest family-owned lighting manufacturers in the United States. Headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, the company operates as an American lighting manufacturer serving hospitality and contract environments across the country.

Through Mario Contract Lighting, we support guest rooms, public spaces, and brand programs with a focus on practical customization, manufacturing reliability, and long-term partnerships built through decades of project experience.

Family Owned

Across four generations, Mario Industries has grown alongside the evolving needs of the hospitality industry while maintaining its founding principles. From its early roots in New York to its relocation to Roanoke, Virginia, the company has remained family-owned and operationally focused on quality, accountability, and consistency. Today, Mario Contract Lighting operates from a 100,000 square foot manufacturing facility, supporting domestic production, custom development, and contract-scale execution for projects nationwide.

Company Founded

Mario Russo establishes Mario Contract Lighting

Mario Russo establishes Mario Manufacturing Company, laying the foundation for what would become one of the longest-standing family-owned lighting manufacturers in the United States. Early production focused on handcrafted lighting components and lamp shades.

1930

Material Innovation

Mario becomes an early adopter of mica for lamp shade production, expanding material capabilities and supporting new decorative applications during a period of industry growth.

1948

Growing Workforce

As demand increases, Mario Manufacturing expands its team and operations, supporting a growing catalog of lighting products and reinforcing its commitment to in-house craftsmanship.

1952

Leadership Transition

Vito Russo becomes President of Mario Industries, continuing the company’s expansion while maintaining its family-owned structure and manufacturing focus.

1953

Industry Recognition

Mario Industries gains increased regional visibility through partnerships, trade relationships, and recognition within the lighting and shade manufacturing sector.

Vito Russo's Nephew Louis Scutellaro, becomes president of Mario Industries and moved the company to Roanoke, VA
